This hardy perennial comes in many colours from white through red, blue to blabk. This white, bowl-shaped variety flowers from February to April and has leathery, dark green leaves. In olden times hellebores were planted close to cottage doors to prevent evil spirits from crossing the threshold. It is one of the earliest flowering plants, it''s perfect for brightening the front of a partially shady mixed border. The new cultivars are even more spectacular with mixed colours. It is easy to grow and has few pests and diseases. Once a year the old leaves needs pruning to allow the new leaves to flourish. It grows in the shade and full sun.
