This is a wonderful houseplant. It can be made to climb up walls along wallpaper and gives the room an interesting look. It produces a tuber and is easily grown from cuttings. It can also withstand some drying out without ill effects. It produces lovely trumpet flowers during late spring to summer. Here I am growing it in a pot alomg with tradescantias and allowing it to hang down at least 3 feet(1mtr). The shape of the leaves gives it its common name of sweetheart vine. The back of the heart shaped leaves are reddish brown as are the stem of the vine. The top surface is mottled dark green.
