This is a beautiful vigorous self seeding climber. The flower is said to represent Christ on the cross. It continually flowers along each stem until the frost. Although evergreen it looses some leaves in the winter. The first one I planted in the back garden spread over three gardens and the main stem was about two inches (50mm) round. The mass of flowers were enjoyed by all. It does tend to die after a few years growth, but by then it has produced many seedlings. The mirror in the picture is used to reflect light into the pond as it is rather sheltered and north facing.
