This bush flowers in late winter to early spring. It is slow growing eventually reaching a height of ten feet or so if allowed to grow unimpeded. It can be trained to grow up the side if a fence or house. It produces a green fruit, spotted with white, about two inches(5cm) round which turns a bright yellow, with brown spots, when ripe. The fruit is very tart, but makes a beautiful jelly reminiscent of guava jelly.
