Every year this acanthus generate leaves which the frost tries to knock back and in the spring the slugs and snails tear into the leaves until it is potted with holes, but it is a survivor and in the spring it produces its flower head which can reach six feet(2mtrs). These flower spikes looks like they are flowering until September, as the white petals stay attached, then the green seeds and stalk start to turn brown and the seeds germinate easily almost like a weed. The leaves are majestic and no wonder the Romans had such respect for this plant.
