This Yellow Canna flowers once for every shoot. Therefore I need as many shoots coming up from the base as possible. The frost has knocked back the large architectural leaves which I cut back later in the spring when most of the frost has passed. I also re-pot it with fresh compost as it is a hungry plant with thick succulent roots, which needs to be kept moist throughout the year. In areas of heavy frost these Cannas require lots of mulching to protect the rhizomes.
