Go back to weekly blog

This plant always gives a good show at this time of the year. It flowers for aout two weeks. Here it is just starting to flower.I encourage it to climb up the fence along with Honeysuckel, Clematis montana and a pink clematis. This gives a succession of flowering through the year. In the winter I get under these climbers and carefully prune all back to prevent them getting too large. It is sometimes difficult to distinguish the different stems as they sometimes look similar. The most pruning is done on the Honeysuckle as otherwise it tends to take over. On the left of this picture you can see one Abutilon "Kentish Belle" still in flower in late December.
