The Bay tree and the Ivy are just coming into flower now. Both these plants provide nectar for bees and insects flying this late in the year. The Ivy is a much maligned plant, but with proper pruning it is a very useful plant in the garden. The prunings make good chippings for the compost. The Bay tree provides me with leaves for cooking.
