I built this box at our village residents association open day to encourage kids to look after wildlife. I was not sure it would work as I have many places in the Ivy for beneficial insects to hide in the winter. I was pleased to see that the leaf cutting bees are using the hollow canes to lay their eggs and raise their larvae. The leaf cutting bee causes minimal damage to plants, but does much pollinating in the garden.
