This plant generally appears with chunky pairs of leaves, well furnished with spots that take on purplish hues in high light. Originating from the Little and Great Karoo in South Africa, P bolusii are active in summer and manage to produce their large blooms during autumn, with only modest amounts of water. It is said that it is hardy doun to -5, but I will not take that chance with it and will not water it in the winter in the cool conservatory. I hope I can get it to flower, but this is a new plant to my garden this year.
