I find this bilbergia survives outside well, but I cover it with a plastic sheet which kept it dry. It is a beautiful Bromlaid when in flower and the plant has been tidied after the winter. This picture does not do it justice as it was taken some time into its flowering in the late spring. Like most bromlaids water is collected between the leaves and I expect that if not kept dry it will succumb to frost. Another good point is that it can withstand drought conditions.
