I now on only grow the diploid version of this marvelous plant. The reason is that it is much more vigorous and open in its growth. It is more expensive, but the result outweigh this. Marigold does not like being bed out when it is cold and takes a long time to recover. A cloche willl help early flowering and growth. These diploid varieties are usually ready later than the normal marigolds and the seeds will not be suitable for saving as they will not come true. Here I double plant the Marigold with daffodils just before they die down in the summer.
