The Mirror Carp which is scaleless except for a row of large scales that run alone the lateral line. It originated in Germany and is a variant of the common carp which is distantly related to the goldfish, with whom it can interbreed. It is an easy fish to keep and grows quickly. I keep it with Goldfish, Koi and Tench and they all seem to get on well. In reality the Mirrow cark will be too large for my pond as it can grow to at 50 pounds(25kgs) or more, but this will not be for some years yet. In the mean time I will enjoy seeing it in my pond.
