Cymbidium must rank as one of the best known and popular of all orchids, thousands of hybrids have been bred. They are usually sold growing in rock wool. It seems that cool to cold nights are needed for flower initiation. In summer it could be grown outside, bringing inside around September when the night temperatures start to drop. Plenty of air movement and strong indirect light will help. I grow mine by the front door and it is again in flower in late Jan/Feb.
