All the prunings go through the shredder and provide the nutrients for the garden in the coming year. By shredding the prunings it rots down much quicker and every three months I have new compost to mulch the plants and dig into the soil. The taller plants with deep roots like trees, Ivy and Forsythia bring nutrients from deep in the ground. These plants therefore recycle nutrients that would otherwise be lost.
